Bridal Boutiques: The One-Stop Solution for Dressing Brides
By Anna Lynn Sibal
The bride-to-be who has never imagined herself as a bride, or whose tastes have changed since her girlhood, needs to choose what kind of wedding dress she would wear. One of the places she can turn to for help is the bridal boutique.
A Variety of Choices
Bridal boutiques are shops that specialize in selling dresses and accessories for brides and her bridal party - the bridesmaids, the flower girls, and the mother of the bride and of the groom. Many bridal boutiques also sell prom dresses and evening wear, as well as tuxedos for the groom and his groomsmen.
Usually, bridal boutiques have different kinds of bridal gowns covering a wide range of styles. Some bridal boutiques carry the work of only one designer, while some make it a point to offer their customers a lot of choices in terms of bridal gown designers. There are also some bridal boutiques that offer bargain and secondhand bridal gowns for the bride on a tight budget.
Shopping at Bridal Boutiques
Shopping at a bridal boutique is just like shopping at any other clothing store. However, buying bridal attire can be a complicated process, even when done at a bridal boutique. Thus, it would be best for the bride to decide beforehand what she wants to wear before doing the rounds of bridal boutiques in her area.
It would help a lot if the bride brought pictures of her ideal wedding gown with her when she goes out shopping. Pictures would help narrow down the choices when selecting a gown and the accessories that go with the gown. If the bride did not find the type of wedding gown that she is looking for in a particular boutique, she is free to look elsewhere. She should start doing the rounds of bridal boutiques months before the wedding so she would have ample time to find and choose what bridal gown she would like to wear.
If the bride is also handling the attire of her bridesmaids and attendants, she should see if the boutique she would be buying her wedding dress offers discounts if all the required dresses are bought as a package. These discounts on packages can yield to a lot of savings for the bride that she can allocate to other expenses for the wedding.
Another thing that a bride should check out when shopping at a bridal boutique is its return policy. Sometimes, a dress looks different when worn outside the shop. If it turns out that the dress does not suit the bride after all, or if the wedding is not pushed through, she should check if she can return or exchange the dress to the bridal boutique.
