Whichever kind of bride-to-be you are, the answer that you may be seeking if you want a spectacular wedding dress on a shoestring budget is to go for discount bridal gowns. There are certainly many ways to save money on your bridal attire without having to scrimp on the details.
Here are a few tips to get the gown of your dreams but without breaking your wedding budget.
- Ask your mother. Mothers often have their wedding gowns preserved when they were still brides so that they can pass these gowns on to their daughters. Your mother may have done the same, so why don’t you ask her for her wedding gown? She will only be all too willing to let you have it.
Granted that your mother's wedding gown may not fit you or may be considered out of style. However, if the difference in fit is not that large, you can have the gown altered to your size. You also do not have to worry about wearing an old-fashioned wedding dress. Vintage and classic designs never go out of style.
- Scout the wedding boutiques and outlet stores. Many wedding boutiques and outlet stores go on sale on a regular basis, especially when there is overstock. You can get your wedding outfit, and even those of your bridesmaids, from these stores at as much as half the original price.
- Search the Internet. The Internet is a great resource for finding anything. If you want to find a discount bridal gown, you are bound to find one on the Internet if you search for it properly. Many bridal websites offer deals to their clients.
However, when you order your bridal gown online, make sure that you are clear on the online store's policies on returning the gown. The gown may look different from what you have expected or it may simply not fit you. Why would you be stuck with a gown that you do not want?
- Comb the thrift stores. If your budget for your wedding is really tight, you can try your luck with thrift stores. There are thrift stores that sell secondhand bridal gowns. You can find just about any size and any style of gown in a thrift store, provided that you do not mind wearing secondhand clothes, and you can get them less than a hundred dollars.
In case you decide to buy your wedding dress from a thrift store, do make sure that you check your purchase first before you actually pay for it. Check for any significant damage on the gown, such as tears, runs or stains. If you fail to check the gown for damage, you may end up spending what you have saved on the dress on alterations. Also, you may have to send the gown directly to the cleaners after buying it so it would look pristine for your wedding.
There are a number of ways to get a beautiful wedding gown without blowing a fortune on it. A little work and a little perseverance will get you the gown of your dreams, even if you do not have a lot of money to spend for it.
